Check what socket the i7-12700kf is, and go on from there.

There are many resources to find the correct ones with budget, features or mid range in mind

I sometimes wonder how we went to space on only 4KB RAM, and we cannot fix a simple issue.

a Z series chipset would be benificial to get the most out of your CPU. Are you looking for DDR4 or DDR5 boards?

Also, if you can buy the K series version of that chip, having a IGPU is great for troubleshooting reasons.

Z motherboard unlocks overclocking. if you don't wanna spend 200$, skip it.

No, i stated that you will get the most out of your CPU. As we both know a K series CPU is unlocked, that is a feature of set product. A Z series motherboard is required to make use of set feature. Never stated it would not run in spec. However, I can see that it would be confusing.

Overclocking is mostly overrated these days, chips are running pretty close to the margin out the box and the power/temp increase is just not worth it.

yes it is. especially for newbies. paying extra for a feature that may not be used is a waste.

True. I overclock just for fun, after that back to factory or even better lower the power consumption.
90% of the time i don't need the extra boost. (my cpu is already fast enough)
