Go to solution Solved by 2PC21,

just try and reseat your cpu

this happened to me once

tested several times on the rams and it works on slot 1. but after putting the ram on 2nd slot by the motherboard it doesn't load like before. the system shows power but turns off. I thought it was the psu so i bought a new one but no it really is the slot 2 on the motherboard recommend. so can i put my other ram on slot 3? without no problem?

contact with certain pins can lead to channels not working

If the that does not work, consult your motherboard and see which slot are paired together, mostly 1&3 and 2&4.

Also, RMA it if you could, why bother with a broken board.

Could be dirt in the slot(s). Could be faulty RAM. Could be bad CPU pin contact. Or could be dead RAM channels in the CPU. It could also be the motherboard, but less likely.

RMA - return merchandise authorization - when you return the product to the manufacturer or service as a warranty claim.

Using that numbering, dual channel would typically be using slots 1+2. It is usually laid out with 2+4 in one channel, and 1+3 in the other channel. As long as you put one module in each channel (one in left pair, one in right pair), you get dual channel mode. If you put two modules on the same side (left 2 or right 2) then it will be in single channel mode.
