Selling my M1 Macbook Air and need a windows laptop

Eel43

I'm selling my MacBook for a windows laptop. I'm a student who on his laptop is looking to do light student stuff, play visual novels, watch tv/movies, and emulate the odd ps2 or older game. I need something with a comparable trackpad, keyboard, and screen to the m1 air. The Dell XPS 13 looked like a winner until I saw the ports and the soldered SSD. Now what do I get? I refuse to buy a surface laptop.

I genuinely think you already have one of the best laptops around. Maybe it can’t emulate games, but if that’s all it can’t do, maybe get a little emulation machine, or build one on a r-pi.

You're right, the macbook is great and two machines would be better than selling my air for an inferior xps 13. What's the cheapest thing for ps2 emulation? I don't even have a monitor, and I don't want one for my dorm. Maybe a laptop. Can thinkpads emulate ps2 games?

Not sure, but if you google around I’m sure you can find a handful of good options.

Nope, not happening. There is nothing pretty much.

XPS is ohne of the next-best windows Laptops.

However, you either get the XPS 13 Plus 9320 with solid Multicore Performance but basicly half the M1 Air's Batterylife, or the smaller brother Dell XPS 13 9315 with 12th Gen -U series. Half the Performance, double the Batterylife.

Oh wait, there might be something with a similar Trackpad: Lenovo Thinkpad Z13.

It uses a sensorfield as a Trackpad, similar to Apple. You might like it, you might not.

JustJosh (Youtube, great notebook reviewer) doesn't like the Trackpad, while he loves Apple's Trackpad. But his reasoning is a bit odd.

But literaly anything else doesn't come close to Apple's Trackpad.

Before you sell, maybe try this:

- Download Parallels 18 14-day Trial

- Install Windows 11 ARM inside a VM

- install your favoured PS2 emulator and give it a go.

I only used a Nintendo DS Emulator, it worked perfectly fine. And Batterylife was still better than on most Windows Laptops.

Edit:

Why wouldn't they? It has nothing to do with Brand, but only with the Operating System.

PS2 Emulator for Windows only requires Windows. Doesn't matter which one.

How much Performance it needs, it's a different story.
