Games running out of memory with 20% still 'available'

Hello, I recently built my new computer (full specs in signature) and for the most part it's been working great, the only major problem I seem to be experiencing is that occaisonally mid to high demanding games are running out of memory at some random point during playing, causing a crash, I do have many chrome tabs and some other programs like Jetbrains IDEs open, but I still think that my system should be able to handle that and the game together.

So far I have experienced this with Ready or Not and Apex Legends, both set to high/ultra settings. Normally I'd just think that I don't have enough memory for these settings, but whenever it crashes it occaisonally doesn't release the resources before I click OK on the error message, allowing me to take a look at task manager before the program is closed. Every time so far memory has been at about 80% utilisation, although when I look into it closer, the memory is full, but 20% are in "Standy" mode, I know this is normally good to increase responsivness, but I would prefer if that data was replaced with the active game files while running, which Windows simply doesn't appear to be doing for some reason.

 

To support and add to this, below is the report for one of the Apex Legends crashes:

This reminds me a lot of the issues in this post from 2 years ago with a very weird page file size (however I checked my settings and it all seems fine, unlike what OP showed for their system) so I am not sure why it thinks it has 128 TB available, besides that 10 GB in virtual memory is brutal, and finally, once Apex closed and stopped using the 6.2 GB of physical RAM it says there that it was at 65% utilisation (32GB x 0.65 = 21GB) which again raises the question why there are 10 GB of virtual memory when there should still have been 5 more GB of space in physical memory available.

 

If someone has any idea what causes the crash(es) and/or why the game reports 128 TB of virtual memory, I'm open to any suggestion!

for Apex in specific atleast, Respawn have acknowledged the memory leak crashes this season especially when olympus was in maps rotation (hence why they removed it) and they are possibly working on fixes to it. So hold the storm, lot of people are experiencing the same thing.

Thanks, that would probably at least explain why Apex was using 16GB of RAM, I'm still wondering why Windows doesn't seem to be releasing the standby memory though.
