How to open a "type 0" file

This is a mega long shot, but a TLDR is my phone broke and I need to get some TXT files from it, connecting it to my laptop I managed to (i think) find the notes app from my device, but all the files are saved as "type 0" files, it's openable with visual studio and the normal notepad, but when I do open them it's just a bunch of gibberish like someone had their cat sat on top of their keyboard... Does anyone know of any android structure app that allows it to be opened correctly, or just a type 0 file converter something of the sort? Otherwise, ggwp it'll somewhat be a hassle to do some stuff without that text file in specific.

Thanks in advance

Come at me for not doing backups, especially on my phone considering it's something easy to break like this, I'll take them all on the chin.

Internet's tell me .0 file is android certificate file. I have no idea what that is.

But you said notes from a note app, have you tried just inserting the files in the same app on another phone?

I don't have another phone with me, I'm currently out of my country for work, at my house i couldve done that yes.

The file path alongside the android file explorer lead to a ".notes" installation so i assume it is the notes I drew up, i also tried looking for just plain " *.txt " to see if anything came up but to no avail

I did however try "scrcpy" to use my phone through a data cable on my Laptop... my phone's usb debugging is off so that's a bust.

File extensions ending in 0 could be a lot of different file types. Extensions on Linux (Android) are more suggestions than guidelines, unlike in Windows. Though android certificate files do use 0 as an extension generally, that's not the only thing that does. First step would be identifying what kind of file it is. Judging from your description it is unlikely to be a text file. You can try to use ExifTool or an online identifier like https://www.toolsley.com/file.html to see if it can guess the file type.

Tried both of them, ExifTool doesn't pick up anything and toolsey says its ASCII text, it isn't ASCII... Imma try to go to a repair store to get them to connect a screen with a ribbon cable so i can export the documents and then be on my way with it ig, cuz the way the phone is there's no point in replacing the screen cuz the chassis is all mangled up then i can order one, problem is... im not in my home country and im in a secluded city... with subpar public transportation that I don't even think goes to the city the store is in...

If anyone thinks of anything else i'd love to try...

note to self, enable USB Debugging as soon as you get a phone so u can use SCRCPY to mirror it with a USB Cable to your desktop and use it there....

It's probably a custom/non-standard format then. What note app took the notes?

toolsey says its ASCII text,

anything can be ascii text, that's why when you opened it up in notepad it showed a bunch of gibberish.

Any binary can be decoded to anything, you just won't get anything but gibberish.

You can try to open it up in a hexdump and look for patterns like headers and footers, and use that information with google to get headed in the right direction.
