Help with "whea uncorrectable error"

Epsilon_Operative

That's generally a memory error code. 4000 CL18 is faster than what most Ryzen 5000 CPUs can handle in 1:1 mode, so dropping the memory frequency should help performance and should hopefully fix the error screening. I'd run without XMP for a few days to confirm that's the problem, then it it's fine then maybe bring up the frequency to 3600 or 3800 and test again.

I had this issue when my RAM was having issues, ended up having to RMA and send the sticks back. Sounds like others in this thread have also found this to be a memory issue, but I did not try dropping memory frequency, so definitely try that before you RMA it.

A grumpy school IT guy with too many computers.

Primary:
Intel Core i9-10900K
48GB DDR4-3600 (2x16+2x8)

RTX 3060 12GB

a lot of SATA SSDs, too many some might say

Secondary:

Intel Core i7-4790K
16GB DDR3-1600
GTX 750 Ti

HTPC:
Intel Xeon e5-1620 v2
48GB ECC DDR3-1600
GT 730 1GB GDDR5

Laptop (ThinkPad W540)
Intel Core i7-4900MQ
32GB DDR3L-1600 (4x8)

Quadro K2100M

2880x1620 IPS Display
a glass trackpad stolen from an X1 Carbon G3

I have more... these are the ones that get used fairly often though.

It being a memory issue is probably the case, because whenever I turn on my PC the EZ de-bug light for ram lights up on my motherboard.

XMP above 3600 is usually a no-go for zen 2 and zen 3. A good chip might hit 3800 but above that, thats nearly impossible.

Load XMP profile 2 or adjust manually to 3600 or lower.

Set everything in the BIOS to auto and run a memory stress test. Something like TestMem5, Memtest86, HCI Memtest, etc. You might just have a faulty memory stick

I apologies for taking so long to get back to this.
I couldn't get memtest86 to work because I'm stupid, so I just used the default windows memory tester and it says my RAM is fine. I also regret not saying this sooner, but when the PC crashes the BSD doesn't always show up and the colors on my primary monitor get kind of reversed and screwed up. Could this be an issue with my GPU?

That memory test is not really all that intensive. It will show errors on occasion if the memory is really screwed up, but there's plenty of memory overclocks I've got that will pass that but blue screen constantly and fail one of the many other stress tests. I really would try and get one of the other memory stress tests to run, probably TestMem5 or HCI Memtest.

It's possible, though that error code still leads me to believe its RAM related and while colors being messed up is generally a GPU error, memory errors can do the same thing depending on how it crashes.

Right, so I did multiple tests with HCI Memtest and they all returned without any errors. However, before I did that my dad (who helped me build the PC) recalled that the RAM felt wiggly, and I know that's normal but we decided to take the RAM out and just switch it around, and after that we did the test. That was a few days ago and the PC hasn't crashed since. I have also been running games recently that before switching around the RAM, would crash within half an hour.

So could switching around the RAM have fixed the issue somehow???.....

It's possible. At least it's working now and might've just had a slightly bad connection somewhere in there.

I'll get back with this in ~1 month to confirm  there have been no crashes and that the issues seems to be fixed. Thanks so much for all the help you've given me! 🙂

Well it seems that that was in fact not the fix. My brother was playing some games while I was at work, and the PC crashed on him in the same way I have previously described. What now? 😕
