keyboard not working after mb change.

Ignasco

Hi, i really need some help. Following the Linus video I replaced my very first motherboard + cpu upgrade, from Gigabyte Technology Co. Ltd. B250M-DS3H-CF, Intel Core i5 7400 @ 3.00GHz, to b550 tomahawk, ryzen 5 5600x, the pc launched and its running so fast, but theres a problem, the keyboard i used to use doesnt write(but gets power) so im writing this with onscreen keyboard, its a Skyloong gk61 ive used it for 1 year and it worked fine. updating drivers didint work, the keyboard works fine on other pcs and other keyboards work on my pc, help would be grateful.

Welcome to the forums!
That's.... wild.
What board do you use? Have you tried different USB ports?

You reinstalled windows after the board swap. You might have a usb device driver from old board causing this issue

I should have specified: what *keyboard* do you use?

And do you see it popping up in Device manager? perhaps under Unknown Devices?

currently found an automatic driver updater called bit driver updater that found only one outdated driver that windows didnt find and its the same date as the old one on my keyboard so maybe that will do the trick.

I have yet to find one of these that isn't malware...

In my defense, I'm dumb.

Wait, it shows up as a keyboard but there is no input from it? I'm *totally* lost. I found this on a different forum>

unplug the keyboard from your pc

then press and hold esc + FN + Q

then plug it back in (while holding the keys)

then release the keys

now imagine working on this for like 10 hours and still being lost lol, also that thing didn't work i don't see how that would work when the keyboard isn't even on, yeah the PC's detecting the keyboard it's on the lighting works but it doesn't write, i'm installing the drivers from the program it's on 5% in like 15 minutes so it'll take a while.

You said power was coming in. That's (I think) the factory reset key combo

It is prob under usb devices and callde usb internal hub but finding it will be hard. You could try a linux live enviornment and make sure it is a driver issue then reinstall windows.

at this point i dont think there is any way to make the keyboard work if it didnt also work on bios you could swap with a friend if your friend is ready to do that.
