PC won't power on when CPU 4+4 is plugged in.

Bubble o

Hi, I just built my first PC but the computer will not power on at all if I have the CPU 4+4 wire plugged in. When the CPU wire is plugged in the PSU will make a click like it usually does when starting the PC. Also, when the CPU wire is not plugged in the PC will turn on all the fans and the CPU cooler but the motherboard CPU light is on. Please help, I have tested the PSU, I have looked for bent pins on the CPU, I have sent the motherboard in to RMA and it still wont work.

Specs? I don't exactly know whats the problem, but it might be an underpowered psu

Does this board need a Bios Flash for the Ryzen 5 5600X ?

Otherwise a low PSU for the 2x SLI you got going, I would get a minimum 800W and a better brand - Corsair, Thermal Take, Cooler Master.

Everyone skips over the HEART of a computer, the PSU.

Test outside the case with 1 RAM stick and without storage.

It's not SLI. 2x says something about the amount of fans of the GPU. It's smt like https://tweakers.net/pricewatch/1791940/msi-geforce-rtx-3050-ventus-2x-8g-oc.html

I tested with 1 ram and made sure that the motherboard was not grounding through the case but the PC still won't turn on when the CPU cable is plugged in. Also, the 2x stands for the two fans on the GPU.

I also took out the CPU then while the cable was plugged in it would not turn on and when the cable was unplugged it would run the fans and RGB. I'm thinking it's the CPU socket on the mobo but would still like some opinions.

It’s either incompatible bios or underpowered psu now, and I’m starting to lean towards bios problems. Try flashing it

Ok I was thinking of doing that but didn't know if it would cause the who PC to not turn on.

Did you follow the instructions correctly for how to flash bios on your board? Make sure the usb key is in right format, named correctly  etc etc

This is the 3rd Post I've seen (including me) that has very similar problem.

This is my first and second post.

https://linustechtips.com/topic/1451004-pc-powering-off-like-ive-lost-power/

I've found no info on how to resolve this problem.

Everyone has Ryzen CPU's but now is Asus and MSI mobo.

I know this is no help.... but more info is helpful?
