Can I connect an 8 ohm speaker to the yellow wire and VCC and generate a tone?

The only chance you have is connecting it between the RPM out and ground and it would also be a good idea to connect a capacitor with at least a couple of µF in series to the loudspeaker so you can get rid of the DC offset of the signal. But this won`t be loud at all. If you really want to hear it, you need another transistor that can take more power than the one in the fan as an amplifier.
