Is 32 gb ram worth it for gaming?

I was first thinking of buying 16 gb ram but see that many games recommend 32 gb. Is it worth it in 2022 to buy 32 gb for gaming and maybe streaming? Is it future proof? In my country 32 gb ram is 100$ more than 16 so i don't want to waste money if its not needed.

You can always get 16gb now and then get the same kit in the future again to have 32gb.

I would say 32gb is really nice to have, you can have everything open when gaming.

16gb is starting to get to the point where you need to close your browser etc for gaming, especially for MW2 for example.

I personally consider 32gb a reasonable purchase as ram is fairly cheap right now and more and more games are pushing 10-12gb+ of ram usage, meaning multi tasking can be limiting in some scenarios.

I have 32gb in just about any modern platform I own, 64gb in some, simply because ram is cheap, doesn’t hurt to have.

Its 42$ a kit right now for 2x8gb 3200mhz cl16 siliconpower ddr4, 84$ pre tax for 32gb

seems fine, but if you are saying that a 32gb kit costs 100$ more than a 16gb kit you are overpaying by a lot, because even in europe a 32gb kit is BELOW 90€ in total, not to say that in america it costs closer to 80$.

oh, ok. well for games this isn't really true and probably won't be any time soon, but for people who have 100s of browser windows open or do video editing,  etc, 32 or even more can make sense.

Still seems way too expensive. How much does it cost in total?

How much does the 16gb cost in total?

16 gb cl 16 cost 80$ and 32 gb cl 16 cost 175$. In my country usually these thinks are more expensive than in other countries.

Importing will be hit with alot of taxes in my country so i won't do that. Your probably right that i don't need 32 gb and i could just buy another pair of 2x8 ram if i dont like 16gb.

Also one last question. Is 3200 mhz cl16, 3200mhz cl18 or 3600mhz cl18 ram better?

there isn't really a big difference between those, most people would probably go for the 3600, personally id go for 3200 cl16 which has probably better latency and is cheaper.
