No boot after enabling Resizable Bar, Disabling CSM

Pretty green here on the technical side of pc’s. I am trying to enable Resizable Bar for my RTX 3050. When I enable it in the bios, it makes me disable CSM but once I do so I cannot boot pc. With CSM disabled, bios cannot find my ssd boot drive. Someone was telling me that if CSM is not booting with it disabled then my OS is not configured as a UEFI boot. So my question here is what do I do to either configure my boot drive as a UEFI so I can run resizable bar, or if there’s another solution I’m all ears. I also don’t want to lose the data saved on my boot ssd if that would even be a potential issue. Thanks in advance!

 

 

GPU: Gigabyte RTX 3050 Gaming OC 8g

CPU: Intel i7-10700k

Motherboard: Tuf Gaming Z590 Plus Wifi

Ram: Trident Z Royal 3600mhz 8gb (x4)

SSD/HDD: Samsung SSD 980 500gb (boot), Samsung Extreme Pro 500gb, Seagate Barracuda 7200rpm 2TB

PSU: Thermaltake Toughpower GF1 ARGB 850W 80+ Gold

Chassis: LianLi Lancool II Mesh RGB

OS: Windows 10 pro

Monitor: Samsung 49'' Odyssey G9, Samsung 28" UE590 UHD

Try this. Enter MsConfig and turn on safe boot. Reboot and enter the bios. Change the settings and save. Boot into Windows. Enter msconfig and turn off safe boot. Reboot.

linus actually has the same problem with his vr system, the solution iirc was to enable csm, boot into windows then run a command which switches from legacy to uefi without requiring a windows reinstall

So this thread they use looks like it directly addresses my issue like you said, but I'm at a hiccup lol.. It says to verify if your Windows system is capable of supporting UEFI in the first place by checking your BIOS version/date. Author says,

 

"Always verify whether your Windows system is capable of supporting UEFI in the first place. Generally, all motherboards launched after 2014 are UEFI secure boot capable but that’s not always the case. So you should verify the eligibility for your device specifically."

 

"If it says UEFI, your device is eligible for legacy BIOS to UEFI conversion. However, if it only gives the name of your BIOS version, the device does not have UEFI firmware settings. Trying to convert the legacy BIOS will lead to hardware failures."

 

When I do this step, my Bios Version/Date says the same thing as the one in his picture provided below. As I read on i don't see what the solution to that is besides him saying that trying to convert it will lead to hardware failures... lol.. what makes it more frustrating is just not understanding hardly any of it haha..

Tried this but it still wouldn't boot once I enabled resizable bar and disabled csm.

z590 boards are UEFI only.

Is there a reason you can think of why my bios version/date wouldn't list as UEFI as he was stating? I have seen though when on start up it will say at the bottom of the screen when you're able to enter bios, press del or f2 to enter "BIOS UEFI".. Wanting to try this method but just want to make sure It'll still want to boot to it once it's converted.

Maybe his info is flawed?

 

Btw, are you using the latest board BIOS? Version 1601

I am not actually. I downloaded this BIOS version last night to install, but was prompted with a message saying to "back up your Bitlocker recovery key and suspend Bitlocker encryption in the operating system before updating your BIOS or ME firmware." As far as I know I don't even have Bitlocker running but because I'm not familiar with it I didn't complete the update until I further confirm what it said in the prompt.

If you don't know about BitLocker, you don't use BitLocker.
