I want good headphones for pc

rustable

I'm pretty sure this is where I put this question, so I want new headphones because mine hurt my head and are cheap, also it's almost Christmas and I'm hoping to get new ones for about $200 max, I am not sure what information I should put but my motherboard does have ALC1220-VB Audio if that helps

I really like my Beyerdynamic DT-770. Closed back, comfortable, replaceable cushions on top and sides, replaceable cable (even with a microphone in it to make it a headset), and the are not too expensive.

The also have a bass slider that just opens or closes to let more bass out or increase the felt bass.

The suggestions above are also quite good and you can't reallygo wrong with mid to high-end Sennheiser headphones. I still have my Headset, which produces amazing sound, and used to have a good pair of headphones (it was an older model, sadly destroyed by my dog).

What is your use case and are you open to buying an open back. If performance with music is really important to you what kind of music do you listen to?

I am not sure what music I listen to, and I think if I had just these suggestions then I would go with the guy who said the Beyerdynamic DT-770 mostly because they have a mic and I completely forgot about that, they are also cheaper and music performance isnt a huge concern, thank you for asking 🙂

also open back is fine but I'm not sure if I want other people to hear what a listen too (it's probably fine tho)

So that's not a dt 770 he is using a custom one pro a dt 770 has no mic or the bass sliders that he mentioned. If your in the US the Beyerdynamic tygr is way better has better tuning and is an open back which is nice to have as it makes the headphone have a wider soundstage. If your into that. If you need a mic a hyper x solocast sits at about $34 right now on holiday salesand with a mic stand like this since eyou do need to get fairly close to the mic you should be at your budgethttps://a.co/d/4vk7ZJ3

In this price range it's really difficult to beat the Rode NTH-100 which I just found out are actually on sale!! NTH-100 Amazon link

These are some of my favorite headphones because they're very non-transparent, meaning that they sound good on anything from a dongle dac to onboard and up.  They do sound better with improved hardware but they will be happy with onboard audio.  For tone they sound full and rich from bass all the way through to treble.  The comfort is top notch and includes cooling gel pads for the summer and they have a great RMA center incase they break.  It's nice to have a good company that stands behind their product.

I really think that everyone should get these headphones, the only reason I don't wear mine all the time is I couldn't get my mod mic to stick to them and need to order more attachment bases to give it another go.

  • 2 weeks later...

I am back and about to buy and I have more money than I thought I would for headphones (I was splitting a sum of money between multiple items and gave headphones 200$, but those other items were much cheaper than expected) and I'm not sure if I should stick with the  Beyerdynamic tygr, or spend more for the Sennheiser HD6xx, I plan on using these with my phone and my PC and I'm not sure if I need anything special for the HD6xx or not

Sennheiser HD6xx is an excellent headphone however it won't sound good on a phone due to the high impedance.  Tygr will sound far better than the HD6xx on a phone due to it's low impedance and I believe high sensitivity.

$200 max for gaming and to run off motherboard audio  my favorites are the 560s very neutral flat sounding headphone good for music and gaming.

And the Beyerdynamic tygr a more fun tuning slightly wider soundstage and better imaging so better for gaming. And has slightly more bass than the 560s but overall fairly neutral as well

The 6xx umis an awesome headphone. Not as good as the tygr for gaming but has pretty great performance either way. The 6xx while not requiring a dac and amp sounds way better with one while the tygr will sound great out of most sources. If you had like a $100 more on your budget it would be an easier reccomend

Tygr all the way! I have it and I love it. Comfort is excellent, bass is very nice and treble silky smooth.

HD560S is treble-centered headphone, not a fun headphone at all an ditched it asap. I can't say anything about the HD6XX as I've never tried it.

DT880 is also a very good headphone btw. But yeah, Tygr would be my pick. And its design is actually intriguing too.

I would throw in the Beyerdynamic DT 900 Pro X / 700 X Pro. VERY different sound from the 770s and 990s in my opinion - for the better. 900s (open) for better imaging and analytical clarity, 700s (closed) for more „fun“ sound.

Their 32 Impedance makes them a great choice for phone usage too. And the cable is mini XLR detachable - the whole headphones are quite repair-friendly. So that would be another plus.

If something does not work, it has been subjected to too little Gaffers Tape.
