Return 5800X for 5800X3D?

Hello. For my new build I got myself a 6950XT with a 5800X. Most people recommended getting the 5800X3D instead, but it wasn't available at that moment.

I got my current CPU for a bit less than 280€, is it worth it to return it and spend the extra 110€ (390€ total) for the X3D? I'm still within the return period.

Thank you!

at what resolution?

That's pricey for the 5800X3D,  to be honest.  Look at it as a whole machine price, is $110 okay with you?  If so, get it.

1440p! And yeah to be fair I think it's pricey. Is the performance gain worth the price? I won't go bankrupt but if the difference isn't substantial I'll either just keep my current CPU or try to snipe a good price before my return period ends.

If your priority is gaming - then ABSOLUTELY YES. If however something else is more important (Photoshop/rendering) then you are better with the base 5800X.

I'd opt for the 5800x3d.

I do a bit of both, but my priority is gaming, yeah. I'll keep an eye out and see if the price drops a bit.

Especially if you play ACC, this CPU is a monster there. It's completely oblitrrates everything else including the 13900k.

i only play Tekken currently,  60fps still kinda feels like 60fps, no different to my 3600, but 8 cores, baby! 😅
