X370 Taichi BIOS how to Update 4.40 to 7.10?

Serge.Schmeidig
Go to solution Solved by 191x7,

Bios 7.10 requires bios 7.00 first.

7.0 (and all newer than 5.10) require bios P5.10 first.

5.10 requires P3.30.

Since you have 4.40 that means you have to flash in this order.

P5.10 first

P7.00 after P5.10

and then P7.10.

Before flashing, install the latest Chipset drivers. Those https://www.amd.com/en/support/chipsets/amd-socket-am4/x570

It's the same driver for 300, 400, 500 and 600 series.

I would upgrade to the 5700X or the 5800X3D in your case. Huge performance jump over the 1700X. The 1700X severely bottlenecks the 6700XT even on 1440p.

If you can afford it, the 5800x3d gives a lot more frames and (especially important) smoother frame times and is able to power/feed way stronger GPU-s.

If you won't upgrade the GPU to a stronger one while keeping the platform, just switch to the 5600 or 5700X, both are capable of taking the max from the 6700XT.

Hi i want to exchange my R7 1700X for a R7 5700X or 5800X3D.

For this I would have to update the X370 Taichi BIOS.

After searching for a while, the only thing I could find was the version order.

3.30 → 5.10 → 7.0 → 7.10

Is it enough to flash only these versions?

And how does it work with the additional drivers?

Please install for 5.10 "AMD all in 1 with VGA driver ver:18.10.20_NHDA" or a later version before updating to this BIOS

Please install for 5.60 "AMD all in 1 with VGA driver ver:18.50.16.01_WHQL" or a later version before updating to this BIOS.

My Toaster

AMD Ryzen 7 1700X

AMD Radeon RX 6700XT

G.Skillz DDR4 3200 16GB

ASRock X370 Taichi BIOS 4.40 / 1.0.0.0a

BQuiet! 650W

Additional question what do you think is the better choice (R7 1700X or R7 5700X or R7 5800X3D) with this setup if I want to use the system for another 2-3 years?

Thank you for hopefully helpful answers.
