Attempting to back up my dvd’s with Handbrake.

Has anyone used Handbrake to back up DVD’s?  Just regular DVD’s, not blue ray. I’m trying to back up my collection onto an external drive to keep it connected to my tv or to take with me while I’m on the road. I have ripped a couple with Handbrake but I always either have audio and video out of sync, video stuttering or just poor quality audio and or video. I’m trying to keep file size to just over a gig and less than 2gb. Has anyone had luck with this software?  What settings worked for you?  Or, can you recommend software that might work better?  Just to be clear, this is to back up MY OWN movies. Not to pirate anything. Lugging a bunch of DVD’s with me when I’m going to be out for a week or 2 just doesn’t appeal to me. A portable SSD is so much easier.

Use MakeMKV to rip the DVDs, then use Handbrake to convert. MakeMKV has a publicly available beta key to use. That will at least remove the DVD ripping step as the culprit to the video issues.

I’ll check that out!  Thanks!
