New PC build - 3D Artist

3ti

Hello!

I'm a freelance 3D artist and have to build a new PC for work.

Budget (including currency): 5 000$ - 6 000$ CAD

Country: Canada

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: No games. Mostly After Effects and Cinema 4D with GPU renderer (Octane, Redshift)

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc):

Here is what I have in mind.

- CPU: Intel i9 13900k

- CPU cooler: Corsair (iCUE H150i ELITE CAPELLIX)

- GPU: 4090 ...  don't really care about the brand, it's hard enough to find one in stock here
- PSU: Corsair HXi Series HX1000i

- RAM: Corsair Vengeance DDR5 5600MHz ( 2 x 32 G)
- Motherboard: ROG STRIX Z790-E GAMING

- FAN: Corsair AF120mm (x 3)

- SSD Samsung 980 evo and pro (x 3-4) +  Samsung 870 EVO 2.5" SATA - 4TO (x 1)

- CASE: Corsair 5000D airflow

Comments, suggestions?

- Does the CPU cooler + fans make senses? And what about the PSU with the 4090 + i9 ?

- The 4090 who is the most often in stock seems to be from Zotac. What do you think about the brand? I frequently run GPU renders all night...

thank you! 🙂

  • I suggest cooling a 13900k with a Thermosiphon like this. It's quieter and a lot more reliable in the long term as compared to a liquid cooler.
  • A 1000w PSU should be more than enough for a stock 4090 and a 13900k.
  • Buy a founders edition from Nvidia's site if you're looking for a good value. If its out of stock just buy whatever is closest to MSRP.

Thanks for the quick answer!

Cpu cooler: I can't find a lot of information about the Thermosiphon... Does the AK620 from Deepcool should be enough? I know it will run hot, but I think it should be fine.. right?

GPU: That was my plan, but Nvidia do not ship their FE cards due to the Québec's French language law ( even though the packaging is already translated in french for France... 😏)

Spoiler

Would prefer TX-1300 PSU because of 2x 12pin connectors are supplied from the box for the new nVidia GPUs.

Nearly all the 4090s have really good air coolers. So I wouldn't worry about that. Get something with good vrm since you'll likely be running this for long periods while rendering.

Along with that I have air coolers in my workstations too since they run 24/7 for long periods from time to time. Something like a thermalright FC140 will be good for the wallet. Noctua NH-D15 or the IceGiant ProSiphon Elite if you want to spend more. Though you'll be fine with the FC140.

i5 2400 | ASUS RTX 4090 TUF OC | Seasonic 1200W Prime Gold | WD Green 120gb | WD Blue 1tb | some ram | a random case
