Switch between PC/Mac from a distance - lag free?

pixelwave

I am currently trying to realise the following setup with my two main machines:

A) Windows 11 Pro PC

B) Apple Mac Studio

Both are located in a central server room and my goal is to access them from a different room - between 15-20 meter away. Ideally as lag-free as possible without breaking the bank.

I sketched out my initial thinking (see image attached). Are there any hardware suggestions or recommendations to optimize / bring down the number of splitter devices?

For the initial approach I decided to separate Display and USB/TB ... because down the road I might upgrade those in an asynchronous way and timeframe (DP1.4 > DP2.1 / USB3 > 4).

To control the splitter/switches from remote location I am looking into an ESP32 attached and switch via my Smart Home / Home Assistant setup.

I mean a kvm you can trigger remotely is quite literally all you need for combining the devices and then a simple splitter after that for the display signal and a usb splitter. Both who are always active. So 3 devices (possibly 2 if you can combine the splitter)
