Asus Monitor Issues

paulyron

Using dell xps 15 9520 with windows 11 pro.

I use 2 external monitors... a 32' 4k samsung monitor connected via usb-c to displayport and a 24' 1920x1200 asus monitor connected to the Dell DA20 adapter that has an hdmi port so hdmi to dvi cable to the asus monitor.  This asus monitor is called Asus C624BQ.  Now this monitor does have many small black spots throughout the screen and that is due to the humidity here but this monitor is still usable.  Now not long ago, I remember sometimes when I turn on this asus monitor... you would see the menu button on the right corner flicker over and over again.  Such as imagine if you were clicking on it fast every single time but you don't do anything to it.  Usually I would power it off and power it back on and then that would go away.  Now recently this has kept showing up almost every single time.  Thus imagine when you click on menu on the monitor... but you pressing it very fast repeatedly but you not doing anything.

I then did some trial and error and pressed a bunch of the buttons whether pressing or holding just to get rid of this annoying flicking menu screen.  What ended up happening is now... every single time I power on the asus monitor... you see the asus monitor logo... then asus dvi ... then you see a horizontal rectangle and a horizontal vertical with the word B5 right in the middle.... it starts from the middle of the screen... then moves slowly to the left side of the screen... then it finally stops.  It is like those 2 rectangles create a box.  Imagine drawing a horizontal and vertical and combining them.  So if you were to move a chrome window to that monitor... only those rectangle part inside is white but everything is dim outside of it.

On the bottom right corner you see Red X, Back Button or Arrow Pointing to Left?, Normal Arrow Sign Pointing Left, Normal Arrow Sign Pointing Right.  There are 5 buttons and the power button.  When you press the 3rd or 4th button, that same B5 and those 2 rectangles appear and then move slowly to the left side of the screen each time.  All the other buttons do not work except the power button which turns it off.

Does anyone have a clue what this is?  Also how would I upload a picture or video of how this looks like?  Has anyone had something like this happened?  This monitor is several years old but worked fine for years.  But because the menu kept flickering, I trial and error and now this happens.  I had unplugged the power adapter and plug it back in and same issue.

Also at the moment, it seems to be blue highlighted on the Normal Arrow Sign Pointing Left?

Is there a way to reset this monitor so it goes to normal default?  Did this monitor mess up?  Again I have no idea why it shows that B5 as well.

When I mean menu button flicker over and over... I mean like the menu on the screen showing. Such as imagine you click on one of the buttons and now there is a menu displaying on the bottom right corner where you can go up or down and click on etc. So imagine it keep flickering on the screen. Thus I don't mean the actual power buttons.

Does anyone have a clue what is the issue here? Again I clicked on all those buttons trying to get rid of the flickering and now this happens. Has anyone had anything like this happen? I never heard of anything like this before.

I turned off my laptop and unplugged the asus monitor from laptop.  I then powered it on.  It shows asus logo, then asus dvi.

Now I see

Input Select

VGA

DVI

Displayport

DVI is checked but it is literally scrolling up over and over again.  You see how the Up arrow is highlighted as if I am clicking it.

There is red x, check mark, up arrow and down arrow.  So this means some button is stuck?

Anyone can give advice here?

In the first picture, it first shows

Asus Logo

DVI - No Signal - This is normal since it isn't connected to my laptop and just plugged into outlet

This is how the bottom right corner of my monitor looks when the asus monitor is powered on but not connected to my laptop.  The issue here is it literally is clicking up by itself and glitching?  Imagine you kept pressing the up button over and over and the blue highlight keep going up and down.

Now when the asus monitor is connected to the laptop, look at pictures 2 to 5.  On picture 2 after you power on the asus monitor you see that.  Then look at pictures 3 and 4.  Notice how these 2 connected rectangles literally move to the right and then finally stops at the right side of the monitor?  Now that B5 seem to disappear in about a second.  But it looks like a screensaver that just moves slowly to the right and stops.

If you look at picture 5, this was how it looked yesterday when I first saw it.  Now yesterday... it went from the middle of the screen like on picture 2 to the left side of the screen.  Also notice how the background is more white as oppose to transparent.  Now if you press one of the buttons it would either make the background white or transparent.  I can still do that now.  But the point here is what exactly is this and why does it show up on the monitor?  There are a total of 6 buttons on the monitor.  The 6th button on the far right is the power button.  These 2 rectangles obstruct half of the screen on the monitor.  And if you press on one of the 5 buttons, that 2nd picture with the B5 and rectangle would reappear again and then move all the way to the right.  I have no idea what this is.

How in the world do I factory reset this asus monitor?  So some button stuck?  Is there hardware issue?  Someone mention you have to get to the menu option to do a factory reset?  None of the buttons when I click on it gets the menu option to show up.

Has anyone ever heard or seen anything as ridiculous as this?

This is how the first photo looks.

I can't seem to upload the video of when the B5 with the 2 rectangles move from the middle of the screen to the right side of the screen because it is over 30mb and max is 20mb.  Anyway I can upload it here somehow?
