computers in another room, display in another KVM?

EDa

If i where to put my 4 computers in another room and display in another location is there a way to make that work?

I use dual displays on one.

Currently i just use a KVM switch with extend cables but it's a mess  of wires.

Explain a bit more.  Distance?  Walls?  Where are the mouse and keyboard?  KVM - how many machines do you need access to with 1 mouse/keyboard?  How are you setting all this up?

Are you putting 4 machines in a room like servers?  Or additional monitors in other rooms for people to watch?

Right now i have 4 computers in a closet 30 feet away that i use a KVM that sits on my desk to control. One of them uses dual displays. No walls or anything to go through.

To do this i use 4 HDMI cables, 4 USB cables. Is there a  way to reduce  the amount of cables coming out of the closet?

My router etc is in the closet.

Hope that makes sense.

If the KVM switch is in the closet, you would only have 1 HDMI, 1 Mouse, 1 Keyboard cable running the entire length.

I don't have any experience with wireless KVM but this may start the process..

So you need to go between all 4 machines constantly?  What is the reasoning for this?

I was thinking you had 4 machines for 4 people and each person would hit the KVM for their use, when they needed to.  Why are you swapping between 4 machines all the time?

Regardless, look into Wireless KVM.  Should be what you need.

  • 3 weeks later...

A 4-port DDM-class KVM switch that  support both DP 1.4, full-time EDID emulation and USB 3.0 hubs is for the KVM switch.

For the remote access, 33-ft fiber optical DP cable x 2 , two USB-3.0 A-A (male to female) extension cables to connect to the console of the KVM switch.   This will be the best and no latency solution for switching and sharing remotely.
