Even if you change the board, there's the powersupply to consider. Unless DELL changed their ways, they would have a proprietary PSU in there in a weird form factor with weird pin outs that doesn't fit in other motherboards that aren't DELLs. HP might be the same.

I see that HP & Dell have similar SSF motherboards. Are there any other motherboard manufactures that will fit into a SFF HP & Dell case?
