Trying to control a dimmer/fan switch with Mindstorms EV3

38034580

I have several of these switches kathy ireland HOME Dual Slide Ceiling Fan and Light Control, White - Ceiling Fan Wall Controls - Amazon.com on my wall. I'm trying to mount a tank tread mechanism next to the handles so the grooves can pull them up/down to control the light brightness/fan speed. Two motors will be used for fan speed and light brightness. However, the tank tread doesn't always grip the slider. What do you suggest?

The easiest thing to try is to shorten the tread. This will then cause the tension gained to better hold the tread firmer against the knobs.

Or you could glue a rubber grommet on the knobs to give the tread a better surface to grip to.  Her, I would try it prior to permanent attachment. Or if the interior hole is small enough to grip onto the knob, no type of adhesive will be necessary.
