I saw the patterson cut of Kenobi.

Kenobi was the only cool part...
except for that 20 second part when

Spoiler

vader rips a ship apart with the force.

Other than that, it was terrible, horrible characterization, created extensive plot holes...
It was just bad all around.
The edit saved me hours of time as it was only like 2.5~3 hours and the series was like 10 or something, but wow... no amount of editing could save the Kenobi story...

Been picking my way through MacGyver. Seen episodes on and off but never really sat down to get invested in the show as a whole.

It really is interesting seeing how similar it is to Burn Notice in some ways.

Since it's one of the movies youre referring to, I'll forgive you 😜. Show was great.

Haven't been able to bring myself to watch anything coming out of Disney in several years now.

Their priorities aren't straight when it comes to making entertainment.

I heard it was praised so I gave it a chance.

I wanted to turn the movie off like 3/4 the way through.

Basically didn't care how it ended. Plus we all knew who wouldn't die.

I know it's a cliche to talk about Hollywood being out of ideas, but there's a series that didn't really need a remake. While I never cared for the (original) series, I know it had a big following.

Huh. Had no idea.

I'm watching the one from 1987.

Pretty much this.

Have there been any remakes/reboots that have been better than the original? Scarface (1983) and Casino Royale (2006) are all I can think of off the top of my head. Oceans 11 (2001) and The Italian Job (2003) weren't bad remakes but I wouldn't say they were better.

John Carpenter's The Thing was a remake. Ditto Invasion of the Body Snatchers. But your meme post is pretty spot on. I love b and c-grade sci-fi films for the director trying to step out of the normal hollywood stuff, and while most don't succeed, many have great ideas that could be wonderful films if given the right budget/talent.

Scarface original was more a shock value film to highlight the crime going on as a political piece.

Peter Jackson king Kong (2005) is the best remake of king Kong I can think of.

I think the best remakes are movies you don't know are a remake because the original movie came out before WW2. IE invisible man 1920s, day the earth stood still (okay that one was 1951 and was pretty good... Equal in quality to remake I think just very different movies.)

Y'know... I haven't seen that tripod movie in years. I remember thinking it was pretty good.

Seen tiny bits here and there and can't blame you.

Watching him struggle with a laser barricade he could clearly just walk around was a facepalm moment for me.

I don't know if that scene made the cut.

The movie was just terrible.

I try not to think about it.

What would be the film you think is worth re-making today? And would you change anything from the original plot/script (if anything)

Start wars episode 7-9.

George Lucas had a script he proposed that was rejected.

Death Note. I'm sure the writers of borderlands 3 can still do better. Very low bar.

Star wars rogue one. Everyone but the blind dude was nonsensical.

Star wars solo. That was an incredibly stupid movie.

Transformers 2007 just needs some character name changes in the deception side cuz the construction transformers assemble into a really big transformer and one was named after one of the small ones and one was named after what they all assemble into so...

Warcraft could delete that scene where they talk about having sex with orks.

I know there's more but star wars 7-9 need to be eradicated from the world.

I admit, I tried to watch that film...twice no less, and couldn't get past the 20 minute mark.

It's difficult to think of anything that had a really good original story that wasn't executed well that would benefit from being remade, probably partly because those films never became as popular and well known.

Honestly though with the remakes/reboots that have come out in the last 10 or so years I don't think I would want to subject any movie to that treatment. I'd rather just see new, original stories.

I recently rewatched Spider-Man 3 for the first time in three years (the only time I saw it) because I wanted to see if it is really as bad as people say. I am not a big critic of movies, but watching this, I spent the entire movie thinking "What's going on?"

There was obviously a power struggle on set, and that led to a mismatch of ideas that lead to a subpar experience.

I really hate chemistry.

Is that the film where our Hero dances while walking down the street?

I saw it in IMAX first time, it was so good with the sound.

I saw it at home once and I think I didn't care. So yeah my opinion is skewed because I saw it in iMax... Probably the only way you should watch that movie.

Indeed. It was very convoluted sometimes (all the time), but I could tell what they were trying to do. They just did it poorly. Very, VERY poorly.
