Do you mean the side you plug into your PSU or the side you plug into your wall outlet?

that's a european plug, our ground prong is on the outlet side for very strange geopolitical reasons. (essentially france and germany couldnt agree on how the ground should work, so there's two standards for grounding, the plug you're holding is compatible between the two standards, which is also why it had metal on the side)

My psu's power cable is "european version" which is strange cuz i bought it from local reputable store but anyway is it safe to use third party normal psu power cable?

If you're stateside, make sure it's a 115V PSU before hooking it up.

Power cords are NOT power cords.

For example, the power cord om my 450W PSU is much thinner

gauge than the power cord om my 850W PSU.

Other than that, if your power cord is of descent manufacture

it should be fine.

unless you're dealing with very high wattage PSUs (1500+)
Power cords are power cords.  That "heavy" PSU cable is probably rated for close to double what that 850 can push.  to handle 1000W reliably doesn't take a very heavy cord.

it's normal.
IIRC, 3 Prongs are usually for US market, outside of that usually they ship the EU version, which is yours.

As long you can get a quality one, it's ok.
Quality as in = They don't use too small of a cable inside the insulation.

There is some being sold with shitty too small cables @ SE Asia market.

 

IIRC, they ship EU version for PSUs sold outside of US market.

Yes. This is true. And a car is a car... Only would I prefer for one with a 5 star safety rating, than a 1 star wreck on wheels.

 

Power cords are indeed power cords. They are cords that transmit power. But there are those that will set your carpet ablaze.

Now I'm not gonna say you gotta buy $200 cables but I'd play it safe, go for one price class up (bout €3/m here for something I'd trust so more of a $1/feet in the US) from 'cheapest' that way you'll probably be saving on some fire-extinguishers in the future
