USB 3.0 Speed slows at 5 seconds remaining

At first I thought it was just one thumb drive, but then it turned out to be every 3.0 thumb drive I have.  When I copy something ever to the drive it will go at 80-110 mb/s for almost the entire transfer, then when it is nearly complete it will suddently drop to abut 10 mb/s and takes really long (we are talking 2 hours for 50 gigs worth of files (8 files at 7 or 8 gigs each).

I updated my USB 3 drivers, but that didn't actually help (although now they properly show up in Device Manager)

 

windows 7 x64.

It must be true, I read it on the internet...
