Podcast Player and content managment workflow for Seniors with accessibility limitations

Greetings.  My parents and in-laws are in their 80's and 90's and fed up with TV programming.  I have played a few podcasts for them when I visit and they REALLY enjoy them.  My challenge is that I need to be present with my smartphone connected to an bluetooth speaker for them to listen.  Neither currently has internet as the price in their remote area is very expensive.  I am looking for a device with a form factor of a portable powered speaker where I could manage content for them locally (download off my phone) or if they took this portable device to a location with internet it would auto update their feed.   I haven't found anything like this but think of all the seniors with vision impairment that might enjoy their options with podcasts... bonus points if the solution can also play audio books....
