Good budget m.2 upgrade for steam deck

turismotom100000

Steam does not recommend upgrading this, it can potentially cause problems.

That said, the biggest 2230 you can get is 2TB, and I've seen nothing as to whether these support SATA or PCIe. I prefer WD Blue SN series for bang for the buck, which seem to be the only 2230s I can find anyway. I believe it is PCIe, not SATA, if that makes a difference.

good <=> budget <=> upgrade (compared to what's already there)

you're going to have to choose two out of the three...

or, how about we start with how much space you're hoping to get, and what you see as "budget".

Have you already used the MicroSD slot? There's 1TB cards on Amazon $130 to $190.

The deck stores most of each games predownloaded shaders to internal storage even when you install the main game files to the SD card.

You can move those resources in the desktop mode and sym link them back to their original location, but if you have the base 64gb version, then upgrading to at least 256gb SSD (honestly I wish I had gone the 64gb with a SSD upgrade myself instead of buying the 256gb) is a fantastic option
