Focusrite 2i2 2nd gen crackling on line 1

Hello,

 

I have a focusrite 2i2 second gen connected to a dbx 286s that connects with my at2020 microphone. I just set up my pc at my new place and I noticed last night that my 2i2 crackles on line 1. moving the gain up on line 1 makes the cracking sound louder, however moving the gain up on line 2 does not. It happens even when my microphone isnt plugged into the focusrite. I went ahead and updated my drivers and still nothing changed. changing the buffer size/sample rate on the focusrite settings doesn't immediately seem to do anything either.

 

Anyone know what could be the issue?
