Is it possible to test a Samsung J7 Prime (SM-G610M) phone with a J5 Prime (SM-G570M) screen?

I got me a really broken Samsung J7 Prime phone with an absolutely broken screen. Thought it was scrap, but maybe there was a way to fix it.

I tried slapping on a J5 prime display (the connectors are the same) but it didn't seem to even turn on.

However, I'm not sure if this is because the rest of the device is broken or the screens are incompatible.

Does anyone have a experience with this?
