DDC choice and powering it

Had this rig plumbed for a few days now. Pump was used, its a 4pin powered version. Seems to have fried itself and the channel it was on.
This board doesnt have a high amp or water pump channel. Not sure what caused the failure, its it was a draw issue or perhaps it just seized up.

So moving forward, should I use the replacement on a powered fan hub or get the a sata powered version? Or just a fluke?

afaik most mobo fan pwm header max power is around 12w (12v at 1a)

the usual ddc3.2 pump will request for 18w (12v at 1.5a)

if your pump only has 1 header, its likely for power

you can use a sata/molex to fan pwm header adapter (it'll run at max speed tho)

if your pump has 2 header, then 1 is for power & the other is for rpm control (PWM)
