Unifi Protect vs Reolink Home Security Cameras

Daniel_1104

Hi so i’m looking to get some home security cameras and have been set on a Unifi system with G4 Pros from looking at videos from Linus etc. But whilst researching I have come across Reolink another home security camera brand who’s value is insane in comparison.

From online videos the Reolink 4k camera system seems to offer similar day time quality to the G4 pro and slightly worse night quality for a fraction of the price. One Unifi G4 pro would cost me about £550 and an entire Reolink system with an NVR and x4 4k cameras costs me £500.

The value seems so insane here as a comparable unifi system would cost £2,500 compared to the Reolinks £500. I feel like i’m missing something for this value to be so insane, any pointers? I’m new to home cameras and this is just what I have seen to find

£550 for a single security camera is absolutely ludicrous.

Quite the opposite, £550 for a single consumer security camera is the "insane" part. The rest of the industry is nowhere remotely close to that.

MacBook Pro 16 i9-9980HK - Radeon Pro 5500m 8GB - 32GB DDR4 - 2TB NVME

iPhone 12 Mini / Sony WH-1000XM4 / Bose Companion 20

One of the 4k models, from my understanding they use the same sensor just different casing for the camera. But for my case it’s the RLK8-800B4-A

Oh ok, I thought that was like industry standard just because of how popular unifi is compared to the competition.
