How do i stop my headphones from hurting the top of my head?

Hey i recently bought the hyperx Cloud x and they hurt the top of my head after a bit how can i prevent this?

One way would be to extend the headband further so less of the weight is on top of your head, and let some of the clamping force of the earcups hold it up.

 

A slightly jankier method would be to add some padding to the headband, be it an old towel, blanket, etc..

It has quite the clamp fit and doesn't have a lot of padding.

 

Sometimes headphones simply aren't compatible with you head.

 

A stupid but effective solution is wrapping a cleaning cloth or small towel around the top.

There are sleeves for the top of the headphones available on Amazon, AliExpress, eBay and such. They are usually neoprene, foam, cloth and such materials and feature a zipper, can be machine washed etc.

 

Also, adding Brainwavz (HM5) pads to the Cloud improves the comfort.

Clamping force, weight of the headset, width of the headband, padding of the headband, and part of your scalp it is sitting on....all vary.  Some people will be most comfortable with the band sitting near the forehead like a hat brim.  Some will be comfortable with it sitting on the crown of the scalp.  If the top of your head starts feeling it before your ears start feeling it--something is wrong.
