Is my power supply ok for 3080TI?

zoom3000

Hey everyone,

I'm interested in upgrading my video card, but I'm not sure if the power supply I currently have will handle it.

My current system is this:

3700X + stock AMD cooler, 2x16 3200Mhz ram, b450 aorus elite, 2NVMEs + 1 hard disck + 1 ssd sata, and for the power supply I have the Corsair RM750x.

I want to purchase RTX 3080TI - Asus tuff.

On the one hand, My CPU doesn't need a lot of electricity, for example, I rendered for an hour, and the CPU did not consume more than 60 watts.
The asus tuff specifically consumes 325 watts according to the "book", unlike the Strix version which consumes 350 watts.

So what do you say? Will I have problems?

As long as you use separate leads for each block of PCIe power connectors on the card, no y-cables, you should be fine.

I think you will need to find out if you will have a problem or not because some people do and others don't.

I have had problems in the past so I like to use more PSU than I need.

The worst that can happen is that the GPU will not turn on with the computer and the problem with that is you won't know if it is the card or the PSU.

When that happened to me I had another computer with a 1000 watt PSU to test so it was not an issue.

The Strix can consume a lot more than that. The stock power draw cap is ~420W on my card. So I would guess that even the TUF card can and will draw more than 320W stock (probably up to ~370W).

My 3080Ti Strix  has topped 431w briefly during Sniper Elite 5 gameplay.  I see the TUF is rated for a lower power consumption though. For me I would maybe change to an 850w PSU  just to play it safe.

Should be fine running it stock - do you know the power limit for the card? Some 3080Tis can draw up to 440W just for the GPU.
