Network Speed

Hi,

I have server that is not on domain everything works fine. I just got TP-Link TX401 10Gb card and was testing the speeds:

PC to Shared drive 400 MB/s - OK

Shared drive to PC 600 MB/s - OK

PC to Server (not on domain) - 900 MB/s - OK

Server to PC - 2 MB/s - how is this possible? what can it be?

Everything has 10GB network cards, server has 2 x 10GB connections

PC on domain.

All devices on static IP addresses.

Share drive not on domain.

thank you!

I am not sure what you mean by not on the domain vs domain.  Domain machines or not, it should have no impact to transfer speed.

What is the difference between the shared drive and the server?

There are a lot of factors other then the network speed that can determine rate.   Was the entire transfer at 2MB/s?   How much data are you transferring?  Is the PC storage system almost full or was it busy doing something else during the test?

Did you copy the same file/folder, some files/folders can be slower to copy.

Domain - i just thought i will specify, cos I am not sure if it is a factor.

I don't know what the difference between them, i thought they are the same, they both have SSDs.

I was testing by copying 22GB movie, but then I installed LAN Speed Test program and it was showing the same thing, picture attached.

Server is as file storage device. its not full and my PC is not full (storage).

My integrated 2.5GBe card works fine as 1GBe card works fine, this 2 MB/s speed only happens with 10GBe card.

I tried different folders.

Try to copy the same folder, some folders may have more small files and then it often slows the process down.

I tested same folders, different folders, created new folders, tested with small files and big files, its all the same, doesn't go faster than 3MB/s...
