New XPS Laptop has bitlocker problem

Ehrix
Go to solution Solved by manikyath,

if you didnt make a backup of the key, it's gone.

some of my personal frustration of bitlocker being enabled on devices by default, without alerting the user to this potential problem... as if bitlocker would never randomly crap out.

I just got a new XPS 15 and when I booted it the other day I got sent to a screen that said I need a BitLocker key. I tried going to my Microsoft account but when I open the link for the keys it says “Try a different URL”. Is there anything I can do or do I have to just reset my drive?

I just read that unfreezing my one drive account can help me access the encryption key page and get rid of the “Try a different URL”. I’ll follow up this message if it works.

Unfreezing my one drive worked and I could access the encryption keys. Unfortunately I didn’t have any encryption keys stored there since my laptop is brand new and I had just opened it.
