LTT and Corning Thunderbolt extension - worth it in the end?

Yes he's still using it.

No there's no lag or input delay, the only reason to go fibre optic in his case is due to the length of the run. if you're just going a room away, regular extension or longer cables will be fine with no noticeable latency differences.

Back in Jan and Nov of 2021, our intrepid leader Linus showed off vids on the Corning thunderbolt over fiber cable.  As he showed this off in his home configuration, with the Rig in the basement and monitor key/mouse on another floor - is this still the set up?

Question:  While it it is absolutely cool that one can do this, do we know if Mr L is still using this set up, and after some experience is the gaming just as good as if it was right beside the monitor?  Is there lag or input delays, any negative experience, or is this a cool thing that if you can accept the cost has no drawbacks?  Any new toys along this thought of remote and HI-FI gaming?

I am considering this set up, now that we have made the changes to the post covid work from home and finding that having several higher end systems in a single room is causing some heat and noise.

Thank you in advance if anyone (or even Linus) can answer this.

Cheers!

Judge the product by its own merits, not by the Company that created it.
