Looking for a budget ADSL modem router or separate modems and routers

Star-Knight

Hello everyone

I got a call from my parents today that their modem router seems to be dying, their currently using a tp-link w9970 (my Dad got it because it was the cheapest one he could find), it started dropping the internet connection every few days and has progressed to dropping it several times a day and taking longer and longer to reconnect.

They want to get a replacement before it gives up the ghost completly and asked me to find one for them, it's been a long time since I last looked at routers though so I'm out of the loop of whats available. Could anyone recommend budget modem router or modem and routers that could handle 5-6 devices at a time?

While it may be the router, that can also be a sign of a physical line fault.

Do you have voice on that line?  Is there any crackling when it drops DSL?
