Is this a good boom arm for the Roccat Torch and desk that's 2.5 inches thick because of a dumb support bar?

Kinda wanted to keep it under $50 but I can't find anything that seems better for a better price.

To do it cheaply -

Do you have second hand shops?

Do they have old angle-poise lamps?

Do you have any tools?

Do you know how to use them?

 

If YES to all of those then what you are suggesting should cost about $5-$10.

 

If NO to any of those then you need to spend money.

 

For myself all of the questions would have a YES and I'd probably design and build what was needed anyway, cost $0.

One is $37 and the other is $24. Are either of these worth buying? And if so, should I just get the $24 one or $37? Also I might have measured my desk wrong? I used a different tape measure and it's plenty under 2.5 inches. The $37 one does seem to have a bigger clamp.

How can it be so wrong with a different tape-measure?

How thick is it really?

$37 - "clip to any desk up to 2.4" / 60 mm thick" - so it says.

$24 version is a very poorly written description, poorly translated from Chinese. Either 2.16" or 60 mm which are two different measurements.

They both refer to 60 mm so maybe measure your desk correctly and see if it is less than 60 mm thick.

 

The cheaper one would seem to be OK.
