3070 Low Usage | Help!

Go to solution Solved by Dukesilver27-,

Can't think of anything else other than resolution bottlenecked, because your CPU definitely could keep up with the GPU, and a lot of people with 3080s reporting the same issue.

You could try using Nvidia's DSR to render games at higher resolution, I've heard people suggesting people with 3080s to test with DSR, to check whether the resolution is the true bottleneck.

Try following this guide, https://nvidia.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/3587/~/how-to-enable-dynamic-super-resolution-in-games.

Almost any game that I play my 3070 won't be used over 30%-ish. AAA Games will use it more, but after I hit 150ish fps in any non-AAA Games It won't use the GPU anymore.

Today I tried CS:GO (no vsync) and was getting 160ish but only using 35% of the GPU. It also studders heavily when starting a new round or defeating last enemy.

Borderland 3 will only use 100% but only if I use the highest settings or up the render resolution.

Why does this happen?

Troubleshooting already done:

Checked thermals on both GPU and CPU.

CPU Has lots more headroom to use (some games only use 25%).

Nothing is thermal throttling.

Most recent drivers. Resizable bar is enabled.

BIOS was the most recent when bought.

Up to date games and OS.

Any troubleshooting tips?

What is the monitor specs? Resolution, refresh rate, what CPU.

Also more detail on other games, FPS, CPU and GPU usage.

Well you might be bottlenecked by resolution, RTX 30 series cards perform better at higher resolutions, especially since the games you played are not demanding, other than BL3, which makes sense.

Have you tried disabling resizable BAR? When I play Forza Horizon 5 and the resizable BAR is enabled, the GPU usage barely go above 50%, but disabled, full utilization. Older games might not be able to comply or utilize resizable BAR.

That makes sense. New Monitor in order?

I did test when I first enabled it, however it only helped fps, Borderlands saw almost 50fps boost. Usage was about the same.

I do realize that I am reaching 144 fps in every game, however I would have expected CS:GO to use more.
