Low Clock Speed - Thermal throttling laptop after repaste - Strange Behavior

So after a repaste to my Gigabyte G5 KC laptop, coming with i5-10500H/16gb/rtx 3060 105w, when on low cpu usage i get 3.8-4ghz clock speed but when I stress test with ThrottleStop and cpu usage goes 99% or 100% the clock speeds cap at 1.5Ghz basically and Frame Rate goes down massively on games that are CPU bound like Halo Infinite.

What did I do wrong? Maybe there are settings I can alter / change ? Thank you.

What thermal paste did you use?

Post some pictures of ThrottleStop while your CPU is being capped at 1.5 GHz. Open the Limit Reasons window. Is anything lighting up red? Most problems are either thermal throttling or power limit throttling.

When repasting a laptop you have to be careful that you do not replace a thick thermal pad with a thin layer of paste. This can cause less pressure between the heatsink and CPU so temperatures might be much higher at full load.

The type of thermal paste can also make a big difference. Some popular thermal pastes that work well on desktop CPUs will quickly pump out when used direct die on a laptop CPU.
