Does the charger automatically select the power?

Go to solution Solved by BobVonBob,

As long as the voltage is correct you're good to go. At the right voltage devices will only pull as much power as they were designed for, no fancy cables required. If it's specifically USB-C you don't even need to worry about the voltage, because the charger communicates with the device to select the right charging voltage. The worst case with USB-C is just that the device doesn't charge.

I have seen chargers on Aliexpress 20W, 30W, even 65W, some of them have thousands or tens of thousands of orders, good opinions.

1. Does the charger actually give the power that is written?

2. Is there such power for all USB ports as the charger has 3 USB ports, is there 20W for each port or then all ports work in standard mode?

I bought one and it arrived this week, this model:

https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4000237954145.html

It indeed does 65W. As per the wattage per port, it depends on the model and they usually have it written somewhere.

FX6300 @ 4.2GHz | Gigabyte GA-78LMT-USB3 R2 | Hyper 212x | 3x 8GB + 1x 4GB @ 1600MHz | Gigabyte 2060 Super | Corsair CX650M | LG 43UK6520PSA
ASUS X550LN | i5 4210u | 12GB

How do I have a 5V 20W and 65W charger and how do I connect a device that requires 5V 10W to them, will the charger select the power itself or will the device do it by itself?

There are still cables that have a controller, does it work? I have not heard that the cable has a controller.

Rzeczywiście ma 65W. Jeśli chodzi o moc na port, zależy to od modelu i zwykle mają to gdzieś napisane.

The one you sent probably has the 65W when it comes to the price. But it's about the cheaper ones that are 2 times cheaper than the one you sent. And besides, I think they have the 65W because on Aliexpress, if the product does not match the description, you can restore the money.

If it’s USB C and it actually follows the PD standard, the device (phone) will “talk” to the charger to see what power it can deliver. The phone will determine which voltage is best suited for it, and that’s the voltage that will be used and then it will pull as much amps as possible.

Standard USB is 5v 1a and is what things will fall back to if they can’t establish a smarter handshake as described above.

The charger will not just “force” power into a device, the device has to actively draw power. So if you have a charger that can do 20 watts via 5v 4 amps, but the device only can charge at 15 watts via 5v 3 amps, it will only do 5v 3a.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯
