Z63 and 5600X Temps

geoffshortt

Hello there, first I want to apologize for my English, not being a native speaker. But ill try to do my best to explain my question

I just built my first full AMD system. (I've always had Intel and Nvidia systems in past)

I am running 5600X, B550 Tomahawk, Z63, and 6700XT Nitro Plus and NZXT H510 Flow (2x 140 front intake for rad and 2x 120 for the exhaust)https://pcpartpicker.com/list/PFz26r

I am concerned about my CPU temps cause it has crazy spikes on Idle my CPU sits at 39c but if I launch any app like chrome or CPU-Z, even light apps like Core Temp. CPU temp instantly jumps to 60-65c. When I run Cinebench R23 It goes to 60c and stays there full 10-minute session. While playing the games it's the same 55-60 in apex legends 60-65. I am worried about the idle being 39-40c and instant spikes from 40 to 65 when I open chrome.

It's been 2 days I'm searching for the tests with Z63 and 5600X to see if the temps are the same as mine ( at least close to my temps) but unfortunately can't find anything. Maybe in the community, someone is running the same setup as me, that can compare my temps with his.

Thanks in advance!

That's totally normal, Zen3 chips go full boost as soon as anything runs so it's idle 40ish/jump to 60/ back around 50 even while browsing

Yeah it's disturbing when coming from Intel world that don't behave like that 馃檪

can noctua fans help with the fan noise ? i mean cause of spikes fans always start spooling to 2k RPM, but if i tune the fan curve temps go higher

Manage the fan curve, you can set it flat super low like 800rpm whatever the temp, the 5600X jumps but never reach super high temps, and your cooler is pure overkill on that chip (it even cost more than the chip lol!)

With Zen3 anything under 85C is safe ... let's say below 80C to keep some headroom.

But even then you need a pretty crazy OC to reach that on a 5600X, these are my max temp on a OCed 5900X that pulls more than twice the power of a 5600X !!

If you don't want to use cam you can set fan speed time to spin up in BIOS. You'll have to move fans to motherboard though. If you set a long delay then it won't change that much. Also consider setting a flatter curve like @PDifolcosays 馃檪
