Cant reset password on MacBook Air 2014 (can't connect to iCloud error)

I have an old MacBook Air that i don't remember the password for. I reset the iCloud password on another computer, but it still wont let me login. If I try to reset the password on it using "forget password," it says it cannot connect to iCloud even though it is connected to WiFi.

Have you tried a wired connection... Also, what version of MacOS is it running if you remember?

Contact Apple, there's no secret bypass that exists.

MacBook Pro 16 i9-9980HK - Radeon Pro 5500m 8GB - 32GB DDR4 - 2TB NVME

iPhone 12 Mini / Sony WH-1000XM4 / Bose Companion 20

Haven’t tried wired yet and I’m not sure but has older version of disk utility so maybe El Cap or Sierra
