Cached RAM problem

BossssoB

Hello,

I'm not sure if this is the right topic but im having issues with my RAM. I have 16gb of ram in total, but on startup task manager shows that i only have 4-5GB available and 11-12 is In use( Compressed) and 4GB cached.

I've tried many things to fix it, mainly looking on yt for guides. But nothing seems to fix it. This is my last place where i know to look for.image.thumb.png.dbc9d5ee232fa58d6ae6e86a1e4615a8.png

When you look at "memory composition", that first purple bar isnt cached memory, its "in-use" memory. Something is using up ram.

When i look under processes it dosent show more than 2gb of ram being used. Its a memory leak or something i think

Rippy4500 is right. Can you go to "Processes" tab of your task manager and then, click on memory, so it would show you in descending/ascending order, which apps uses the memory the most.

I also got 13GB of "cached" RAM, but it's because I use a drive cache software for that amount, don't you have somethingsimilar ?

You can try to check it using Resource Monitor. While in the Performance tab, locate and click the resource monitor at the bottom left of the taskbar. Once it is open, go to memory, and it should show you all processes and how much ram they are using. The screenshot you provided is already showing that 11.9gb is in used. So you just need to check which app/s are those.

You don't have to screenshot it. Are your browsers setup to run at boot start up and/or setup as "Continue where you left off"? If yes, it's possible it what's causing the issue. I work from home and I can tell you, that just having a few tabs with microsoft365 office open, like presentation, excel and proprietary company web base tools, with actual excel app open would eat a lot of ram. Then add your other personal tabs that are left to run and take some more memory, can really get you 11gb of use memory.

What I can suggest to test this theory and troubleshooting it, is to closed your browser and it's background apps from your task manager and then check again if the memory in used decreases.
