What solution for running NAS + media server on a gaming rig?

Are there any software solution that allows me to use my gaming rig as a NAS and a media server - running on Windows so I can also game? Looked into FreeNas and Plex and it seems those run as an OS so i would not be able to game. Thanks in advance!

Plex will let you have it running as a background task, currently have my tower as a Plex server and gaming and it does it like a champ with a 2600x and rx480 8gb

Jellyfin is free open source alternative to Plex, and it runs on windows.  I use it on my gaming box.  Jellyfin: The Free Software Media System

You can also have storage on your gaming computer and share it with other machines on the network.

Plex will run in the background on Windows just like any other application. If someone starts streaming content that needs to be transcoded, you might notice the extra CPU usage that requires. (Hardware transcoding is locked behind a Plex Pass subscription.)
