FPS game high stutters after few matches without phone heating up.

I've a redmi note 9 pro (4gb ram, SD 720g). I play "world war 2" from Edkon games. Its actually smooth 60fps gameplay. But start stutters, lags & gets worse until the game is unplayable after few matches. Phone is barely warm without the case. I don't think its thermal throttling. Is xiomi trying to slow down my phone?

does that game have any "low graphics" mode or something you can try? go into settings and turn off anything that could potentially run in the background

Possible to see if problem still occurs when  plugged in? Might be a battery save feature.

I disabled the MIUI battery saver option for this game. I don't like gaming while plugged in, but I will give it a shot.

Everything at low graphics. When the problem occurred, first thing I did was tinkering with the settings.
