SSD speeds not up to spec???

Hiya, I just brought the wd_black sn850 1tb drive for my ps5, upon installing it, after doing it's read speed test, it showed up as 6500mb/s....I can't help but thank that's a considerable amount less than it should be...I'm I right in thinking that?聽

I know that speeds are "up to" 7000, and I know there can be fluctuations....but 500mb/s worth??? Really????聽 Just worried I've been ripped off...it's brand new and was brought from Currys, In the UK....and was brought on finance too 馃槩 please Linus, if you can give me some insight, that would be really appreciated.

Thanks, kind regards,

6500 to 7000 mbps will make little to no difference especially with something that would rarely need speeds even half that fast.

As you already said, the numbers on the box are almost always marketing bull. That will be more than fast enough to for your PS5, and Sony just announced it as the first certified SSD as well. As long as it is over 5000MB/s your PlayStation will have no issues with it

That's normal, my SN850 also showed speeds of just over 6500MB/s.
