5800x3d temps high

5800X3D PPT is 105W, not that much compared to 5950X or Intel 12900 that reach 200 to 250W+, so the Fuma2 could handle it, it's 6 pipes double tower 2 fans!

Problem is not power, it's the chip design, same as the 5800X, with 8 cores on 1 die so heat is very "concentrated" and not in the center. Plus according to reddit the 3D cache makes things worse and even ppl with 280mm AIO report 80 to 85C temps under CBR23, so I don't think upgrading the cooler will make much

Idk much about Scythe fans tho, maybe swapping them for Noctuas would improve the situation

My friend just got a 5800x3d.

Runs a scythe fuma 2 for cpu cooler and a p600s for case.

We are playing tarkov and his temps are creeping up to 81c

He ran occt variable extreme all core stress and it hit 86c.

Idle temps are around 44-55c.

It was just installed and pasted with noctua nt h1.

Are these normal temps?

I know it runs hot but does he need to consider getting a 360aio?

Depends also on your fans and how is setup your P600S, if you have all vents closed it doesn't have good airflow

I don't think it will thermal throttle until 90C or above so I wouldn't necessarily be too concerned.

Corps aren't your friends. "Bottleneck calculators" are BS. Only suckers buy based on brand. It's your PC, do what makes you happy.  If your build meets your needs, you don't need anyone else to "rate" it for you. And talking about being part of a "master race" is cringe. Watch this space for further truths people need to hear.

Sounds pretty normal to me.

That's with Corsair iCUE H150i Capellix, a 360 AIO

It’s not the best cooler for the cpu. 6mm heat pipes be struggling to tame that beast.

Yup. Make sure the case is setup in the airflow mode (remove the front panel on the mesh).

TJ max for that chip is 90C. It will throttle itself to protect itself, so you aren't going to do any damage.

The Fuma 2 can be a bit weak in my experience. It has great price to performance, and noise normalized performance, but the low fan speed can be limiting in demanding situations. A 360 AIO is not the only option and may not be worth the added complexity. There are some damn decent air coolers out there, and maybe even just replacing the fans on the Fuma 2 could be a good option.

It might not be the best cooler you can buy, but it is more than enough for this cpu.

The cooler is perfectly fine for this cpu.

Those are normal temps for this chip, and not cause for concern.

You can't apply the same standards for what good temps are to every CPU.

Ty for the info everyone.

Seems like this is pretty normal.

I had him clean out his filters and apply a more aggressive fan curve.

Now I understand why they didn't go higher than 8cores with x3d

Those temps are normal for you maybe.. I know of a couple of guys who have one and they don’t run as warm. I recommended my cooler to one of them, went from loads in the 90s to loading at 80. 10-12c is a big difference..

But it is summer, and people are really into high performing, quiet systems.. the trade off for ultra quiet is ultra warm 🙂

So 80c is fine, but somehow 81c is concerning ?

Weren’t you just talking over 85 not long ago? So if you saw 85 during some stress, chances are you saw 90 too.

Run it any way you want, it’s not mine lol..

What are you talking about ? The op states 81c in his opening post. Not sure where you are getting 85c or 90c from.

Well then..

You aren't looking very hard. Its right there, 4th line of the OP.

86c OCCT, he probably stopped it before it went higher.

Edit:

OCCT isn't that stressful at the setting he was running, so chances are if he ran something heavier like Linpack Xtreme, he would for sure be hitting limits of some kind.

A stress test isn't everyday usage though is it ?

Also any stress test that extreme will cause issues for most coolers. If you look at any review for the Fuma 2/Rev.B you will see it is highly regarded. I know Gamers Nexus gave it a good review.

We also haven't established the op's setup i.e If they are running with the front panel on or what the fan setup is etc.

Depends who you ask 😄

There are work loads that are similar. If you just a gamer then no, probably not. But games aren’t stressful yet he was in the 80s just playing a game..

Maybe, it would depend more on your clock speed, and caseflow setup. It might be highly regarded, but it’s no where near the top. Especially with higher TDP chips.

Maybe if you are into overclocking then sure 🙂

Nope it isn't near the top, but it is designed to be a quiet cooler rather than raw performance, so the fan speed isn't as aggressive as some other coolers.
