Will ram speed affect me in gaming ?

So i bought the G.Skill Trident Z 16gb 3600mhz cl 16-19-19-39. I know there are b-die one but they are too expensive I got this kit for like 110 after tax, in gaming and editing and livestreaming will that latency affect me negatively compared to like 16-18-18-38 or 16-17-17-37 ? I bought it from new egg and don't want the headache of their long rma process so if not Il keep this and buy the rest of the parts in a few weeks. (24 days left to RMA)

Sometimes, and depending on games, but after a certain speed as long as you are dual channel it won't be noticeable

For games like, dying light 2, forza 5, gears of war, cod, battlefield, will it be bad ? 1440p ?

You paid too much, you can get 2x8GB mediocre B die kits for $93, pretty good B die with a usable XMP for $98 and really good B die for $110. You can even get RGB B die in 2x8GB for $120 (this at least used to be B die, pretty good B die nonetheless, there is stuff now that can do this as well but it's still most common to be B die)

It's not worth going through the effort to return it and get a better kit, but a kit like that should realistically only be going for $70-80 at most.

From what I remember from previous posts, they're US based. Plus that exact kit is going for $110 on Newegg right now, so I'd say it's a pretty safe assumption that they're in the US.

True, but the timings on that kit are pretty terrible (20-26-26-46). Still, that is a pretty interesting kit of memory and should be better (albeit not much better) than the standard 2x16GB 3200MHz CL16 kits you get for that price pretty frequently.

just pointing out you can get double the amount for the same money.

perceivable performance isn't really going to be too big a deal

ah, yeah, well, you gotta pay for RGB if you want it.

Patriot is a long time RAM manufacturer, they have been around for a very very long time. I think they're actually older than G. Skill.

That said, they all tend to use the same various IC's anyway (except Crucial, who only uses micron since that's their brand)

ah, yeah, well, you gotta pay for RGB if you want it.

Patriot is a long time RAM manufacturer, they have been around for a very very long time. That said, they all tend to use the same various IC's anyway (except Crucial, who only uses micron since that's their brand)

I had a phase a few months ago with Ronothan where i kept going between corsair, g.skill and crucial for ram. Crucial was the winner cause of cost and quality but I tend to stick to brand i bought from years ago and that's it. Like corsair for psu, gskill for ram, and Samsung for ssd. Like i have a very very hard time changing cause i think they are the flagship companies for no reason

They all tend to make great products and poopy products over time. Crucial sadly pulled out of desktop performance memory segment recently.

Although, perhaps they are coming back to rebrand out of ballistix probably to distance themselves away from the firearms branding which is pretty divisive.

My kit looks like a picatinny rail for example.

Im a G.Skill fanboy cause of their small and resource sparing rgb software non rgb and these companies ive never heard of like viper scare me and make me not wanna go close to them lol but you both made good points

Vipers are fine. They make some pretty nice kits of RAM (the Patriot Viper Steel 4400C19 kit is very popular since it's very cheap B die that's also really good B die). Besides, G.Skill B die if you want to stick with them is still pretty cheap as well

https://pcpartpicker.com/product/wX7CmG/gskill-flare-x-series-16gb-2-x-8gb-ddr4-3200-memory-f4-3200c14d-16gfx

Plus there's that G.Skill 3600MHz CL17 Trident Z RGB kit that is B die, again a really good kit only $10 more than the C16 kit (since the tRCD is lower on that kit, it will perform better, plus it should overclock pretty well, CAS latency is actually the least important memory timing)

If it means anything to you, the best kit of B die I own is an ADATA kit of 3600MHz CL17, it does 4800MHz CL15 at 1.7V. I've used G.Skill kits pretty often, they're nice and everything, but I wouldn't be loyal to them.
