Bottleneck? Or the game?

Whenever I play a game, in specific Far Cry 6 because that is the only game I have played since I have built this PC, but that's besides the point. Whenever I play, my CPU usage is at around 25%-30%, and my GPU usage is at 100%. The specs in my PC are as follows:

NVIDIA RTX 3060 12GB

AMD Ryzen 7 5700G

16GB (2x8) 3200MHz 

512 GB NVMe SSD (around 2500MB/s)

Windows 11 Home

I am not sure is Far Cry 6 is just a very GPU intensive game, or if my system has a GPU bottleneck. I still get around 80 FPS on completely max settings in Far Cry 6 on 1080p, but I am just wondering if the RTX 3060 is not powerful enough for the Ryzen 7 5700G.

That only means you are GPU bottlenecked.

Ideally you want to leverage your GPU to it's fullest; in this case, you're getting the most out of your 3060.

 

I'd also recommend just playing on high vs ultra. Gets you 90% of the way there, at 70% of the effort.

Don't bother with the 4k textures either.  no point at 1080p

Having the GPU work 95% and UP means there's no CPU bottleneck in that title, meaning the same CPU can (probably) feed a stronger card.

So I could, theoretically run a 3090 Ti with a Ryzen 7 5700G? Or is that too overkill lol

The 3090Ti would be underused, not even a 12900K or a 5800X3D would feed it properly for 1080p. For 1440p or 4K it would work great.

The 5700G is a CPU between the Ryzen 7 5700X and Ryzen 7 3800X when we look at the per-core performance. It's nearly high end.

So how would a RTX 3060 and a Ryzen 7 5700G work with 1440p? I’m thinking of upgrading my monitor.

Would work great.

Just decrease your frame rate by about 20% and that's how it would perform.
