It'll take longer to render, scrubbing timelines could stutter more, etc.

I was thinking downgrading i5 12400 to i3 12100 if its not necessary.

Im wondering if there is anything wrong with i3 12100 for 3D work such as blender or maya for animation, sculpting, rigging and so on.

For rendering, i might just use my rtx 3060. I found on youtube that i3 12100 also can open alot of software already so what is the worst thing happen if i use i3 12100?

Why do you need to downgrade? A lower end cpu might not be able to keep up with that workload depending on what you are doing in the software.

Nothing "Bad" will happen. CPU related tasks will just take longer to process in comparison to a faster chip.

If you buy the better cpu you will have extra room for more intensive workloads, you dont wanna cheap out and get something thats barely enough for what you do right now.

Are you able to wait a bit longer to save a bit more? That might be your best option. Wait a bit longer and have a much better system rather than trying to compromise if you can.

I dont think i can. Im already going to have a 3D lesson in college at august. If an igpu can do 3D modeling and sculpting + animation already. Than maybe its a choice.

However i also only have gigabyte ds3h as an option since im buying a prebuilt pc. And from reviews its not reccomended to use that motherboard for i7

Even i5 12400 non f is criticised already by pc builder in utube

A prebuilt could be overpriced if you can give me a budget and location I will be able to give you probably  a decent build that is better and might be cheaper

Well from what ive count they took an extra $30 from what it should be.

Im from indonesia, i use rakit komputer.com to search for pc spec and price.

My budget is rp 16.000.000 and its not include monitor ( proably gonna be just 1080p 75hz ips )

Thats equal to $1142 since Rp 14000 = $1 usd if im not wrong

With i5 12400

Gigabyte ds3h b660

Rtx 3060

8x2 gb ram

512 adata nvme

500 hdd sata

Corsair cx650m

Infinity cyclops casing

They make it price around 15.600.000 with stock cooler.

While the price i checked on rakit komputer it was 15.300.000

I see try to ask them to get the F version of the CPU and maybe a better motherboard

😕 nothing ll happen. 12100f is better than my old 10400f with a b460 mobo. With this 12100f ur not only getting 3200mhz ram speed ur getting 4800 mhz ddr5, so ur 12100f+b660+ddr4(3200mhz+ 3050/3060 is better than 10400f+b450+2666mhz+3050 or whatever.

:/ I saw an h610 ddr5 supported mobo, :| u can consider that motherboard as well because ur using 12100f. :) Ddr5 is going to bless ur 12100f for productivity and upcoming games (well optimized games for ddr5) :) i don't see a problem really, but it's true that this cpu has less cores which is problematic. It's not gonna be as smooth as high end processor but it's gonna get ur work done because. :/ 12100f is no joke and the best single core performance i3 cpu out there. :| Consider an aio/ good tower cooler this cpu is a worst bending cpu as well.
